What the funding covers
- Full scholarships from the African Union Commission for admitted master's and PhD students.
- Study at institutes hosted by the University of Ibadan (Nigeria), the Universities of Yaoundé II and Buea (Cameroon), Jomo Kenyatta University (Kenya) and the University of Tlemcen (Algeria).
Who can apply
- Applicants from African countries and the African diaspora.
- Master's: aged 25 or under for men and 28 or under for women, with at least a second-class upper bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- PhD: aged 28 or under for men and 30 or under for women, with a relevant master's degree.
Which nationalities can apply
Only citizens of African countries can apply.

How to apply
- Watch the African Union and Pan African University sites for the call; the last one opened on 15 November and closed on 15 December 2025.
- Choose a programme at one institute and check that it is taking students that year.
- Apply online with certified transcripts, a passport or national ID, a CV and lecturers' recommendation letters.
- Shortlisted candidates may sit a written or oral examination.
Before you apply: things to know
- Applications after the deadline are not considered.
- Not every institute admits every year; in 2026 one institute took no new students.
- The age limits are strict, so check yours against the call.
