Information stored on your own device
The site uses your browser's local storage — not cookies — for features you choose to use:
- Your shortlist. When you bookmark a route, the route's name is saved in your browser so your shortlist is there when you return. It never leaves your device, and you can remove it by un-bookmarking the route or clearing your browser's site data.
- A premium licence key, only if we offer optional paid tools and you enter a key you bought. The key is stored in your browser and sent to our payment provider, Gumroad, to confirm it is valid. Gumroad's handling of that request is covered by Gumroad's privacy policy.
Calendar files you export are created in your browser and downloaded directly to your device; we do not receive them.
Hosting
The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. When you visit, GitHub receives technical information your browser sends with any web request, such as your IP address, and may log it for security and to keep the service running. See the GitHub General Privacy Statement.
Advertising
When advertising is shown on this site, it is served by Google AdSense. Ads appear only in spaces labelled "Advertisements".

Links to other websites
Route pages link to universities, scholarship providers and governments. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which we do not control.
Children
The site is intended for people researching university study and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Because we do not run accounts or collect personal data ourselves, there is usually nothing for us to access or delete; what is stored lives in your own browser, under your control. For data held by Google or GitHub, use the links above. If you have a question or request, email hello@degreestep.com.
Changes
If we change how the site handles information — for example by adding a newsletter — we will update this page and its date before the change takes effect.
