What the funding covers

  • Tuition fees and a laptop.
  • Accommodation on UCT's campuses and living expenses.
  • Medical aid, a study visa where needed, and annual travel to and from UCT.
  • Renewal each year depends on academic performance and conduct.

Who can apply

  • Citizens of an African country, including South Africa, with financial need.
  • For postgraduate study: a postgraduate diploma in Health Sciences, an honours degree or a coursework master's at UCT.
  • Part-time study and research-only degrees (master's by dissertation or PhD) are not covered.
  • An offer of admission to UCT before the scholarship is confirmed.

How to apply

  1. Apply for admission to an eligible UCT programme first, through UCT's online application.
  2. Then complete the separate scholarship application on the programme's online portal, starting with its eligibility quiz.
  3. Upload certified ID, transcripts, a CV and a sworn affidavit witnessed by a commissioner of oaths, and give two referees.
  4. Submit by 31 October 2026 for postgraduate study in 2027.

  • Undergraduate applications for 2027 closed on 30 September 2026.
  • Documents sent by email or on paper are not accepted.
  • Faculties can set their own earlier admission deadlines; check yours.
