Türkiye Bursları

Türkiye Scholarships, run by the Turkish government, is one of the broadest full awards anywhere: it places you at a Turkish university and pays tuition, a monthly stipend, housing, health insurance and flights, with a year of Turkish language study included.

An external award — you win the scholarship and take it to a university that admits you.

What the funding covers

  • Full tuition, and placement at a university — you are allocated a place rather than applying to each university separately.
  • A monthly stipend: 4,500 TL for bachelor's, 6,500 TL for master's and 9,000 TL for doctoral students (2026 figures).
  • Accommodation in a state dormitory, health insurance, and a return flight ticket.
  • A one-year Turkish language course before your degree.

Who can apply

  • Citizens of any country other than Türkiye.
  • Age limits: under 21 for bachelor's, under 30 for master's and under 35 for doctorates, counted as of 1 January of the application year.
  • Minimum grades in your previous studies: 70% for bachelor's applicants (90% for medicine, dentistry and pharmacy) and 75% for master's and doctoral applicants.
  • Doctoral applicants also need a research proposal and references.

How to apply

  1. Create an account on the Türkiye Scholarships online application system — applying is free.
  2. Choose and rank your preferred universities and programmes in the form.
  3. Submit during the single annual window: for 2026 it ran from 10 January to 20 February.
  4. Shortlisted candidates are interviewed, usually in the spring; placements are announced in the summer.

Before you apply: things to know

  • The stipend is set in Turkish lira, so its value in other currencies moves with the exchange rate.
  • Age limits are strict and counted from 1 January — check your date of birth against them before you start.
  • Applying is free. Anyone asking for a fee to 'process' your Türkiye Scholarships application is running a scam.
