About the position

The Development and Neurodiversity Lab (DiVE) at Uppsala's Department of Psychology studies early childhood. One of its projects follows more than 1,000 young twins, 500 pairs, to learn how genetic and environmental factors shape differences in brain development and behaviour.

This PhD works within that study, focusing on how temperament, emotion regulation and prosocial behaviour develop. Data collection is already complete, so the work centres on asking research questions of a large, rich dataset and analysing it.

What you will do

  • Formulate research questions, analyse the twin data and write scientific articles.
  • Present findings in a range of settings.
  • Complete doctoral courses worth 60 credits.
  • Spend up to 20% of your time teaching or on department work.

Who can apply

  • General entry requirements: a degree at advanced level, or at least 240 credits of university study including 60 at advanced level, or equivalent knowledge gained in Sweden or abroad.
  • Specific entry requirements: passed psychology courses worth 90 credits, or equivalent knowledge.
  • Excellent spoken and written English, and good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Documented experience of, and aptitude for, quantitative data analysis and statistics.
  • Advantages: experience of similar research, of running projects independently under supervision, and programming skills.

What is offered

  • Full-time, fixed-term employment as a doctoral student on a fixed monthly salary, ending in January 2031.
  • Start on 1 February 2027, or as agreed.
  • The post may involve a security check before you are hired.
